Do you have a Frozen Coffee Addiction?

20 Jan

I love Starbucks frappuccinos and McDonald’s frappes. I love the smooth, delicious, ice creamy texture, the mounds of whipped cream and the drizzle on top. I admit I went through a period of time in the last few months where I got the McDonald’s large frappes at least once or twice a day.

I would slurp them down in ecstasy and use my finger to lick off every bit of fudge sauce and whipped cream left on the lid. They couldn’t be that bad right???? I finally went on McDonalds website and looked up the nutritional information for the large frappe I was consuming daily and I could not believe what I had been doing to myself. These babies will run you 19 points +!!!! That is crazy!!! I must admit though my addiction was bad, I literally would see those yellow arches and start salivating. So, I needed to find an alternative. Unfortunately, you can not alter the nutritional content of the frappes, even a small is 10 points. But, they do allow you to pick what some of their other iced drinks have in them.

I was very excited to find something that was much healthier and just as yummy. (ok maybe not as yummy, but pretty darn close)

Introducing the iced latte: This yummy concoction of non fat milk, ice, expresso and sugar free vanilla syrup will only set you back 2 points + for a small and 3 points + for a large. If you really need the whipped cream add an additional 2 points. I do live in a small town, so there are no Starbucks here, but I do know that both Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts, also offer ways to tweak your favorite drink to make them lower points on their websites.

Even though I am on a “diet” I want to look at it more like a life style and finding delicious alternatives to my favorites is the way to go. I can proudly say I have not had a frappe for one month!

What is your favorite low point coffee treat????

Last week I bought the new salted caramel smoothie mix at WW. I don’t usually drink them but this one intrigued me. Came home, mixed with unsweet vanilla almond milk, crushed ice and about 1 tbsp instant coffee. It was every bit as good as a frappachino at Starbucks!!

Shannon. If you are following the Weight Watchers program you are not on a “diet”. It is a life style. If you consider it a diet it is too easy to just quit it. If you consider it a lifestyle it is going to be just a way of life. I have been following the WW program for 10 years now and have NEVER said I was on a “diet”. I lost 50 pounds with my new lifestyle and have kept it off for over 9 years now. I absolutely love your site, your recipes and ideas are great!! Thank you so much for all the time you put onto this!! Krittergirl1 is so right on about the WW salted caramel smoothie mixes. They are fantastic!! And good for you…(Just thought I would slip that in there ;-)
