Many years ago on my first trip to Italy, I was introduced to the most amazing ice cream I have ever had, Gelato. I think the display is what got me. The ice cream was whipped into peaks and topped with fruits, nuts and chocolates. I tried the Baci, which is a Italian candy made with Hazelnts and chocolate and I was in heaven. You can literally buy a Gelato on every corner in Rome, Venice and Florance, but it is not easily found here in the US. Some of you may be wondering what exactly is Gelato and how is it different than ice cream.

Regular ice cream is made with fresh cream, real eggs, and natural flavoring and it also has more air whipped in. As much as half the carton may be air, in fact. More air–or “overrun”–means softer ice cream that scoops more easily and melts more quickly.  Gelato, however has no air added at all.  Gelato recipes usually include more egg yolks, more milk and less cream. It actually has less fat than regular ice cream, but gelato’s low overrun makes for an extremely dense, rich and creamy treat.

Which means you can eat more and it has 30% less fat than regular ice cream!!

I was so excited to find Talenti Gelato at my local grocery store!!

Talenti makes everything from scratch using the finest ingredients available regardless of cost.  They combine these ingredients by hand in small batches using classical Italian gelato making equipment.

They incorporate the finest ingredients available by importing raw materials from around the world to enhance our recipes.  Talenti gelato uses only freshly pasteurized milk which is free of the growth hormones rBGH and rBST. Talenti uses only extra fine pure sugar, fresh fruit and nuts straight from the growers, real Callebaut chocolate from Belgium, fresh whole Tahitian vanilla beans from Papua New Guinea, select coconuts from the Philippines, and dulce de leche from Argentina.  Additionally, they roast and caramelize their own nuts, they squeeze our own lemons, and they make our own nut pastes.  No detail is ignored and No shortcuts are taken.  Talenti truly is made with only the best.

Talenti offers many types of amazing gelatos such as Check out all the flavors here!

I was fortunate enough to try 4 of their flavors:

Sea Salt Caramel
A succulent rich golden Argentine caramel base brought to life with Fleur De Sel sea salt “the caviar of salt”; we then add chocolate covered sea salt caramel truffles to complete this masterpiece.

They were all AMAZING!! My favorites were the Sea Salt Caramel and the Double Dark Chocolate! 1/2 cup is all you need. It is incredibly thick and creamy!! Divine!!
